Siddhartha Gautama was an ordinary human being.
He was born into a wealthy family to King Suddhodhana and Queen Maya Devi in Lumbini, which is now part of present-day Nepal. A hermit after seeing Baby Siddhartha told Suddhodhana that either he will become the king and rule the entire world or he will become a transformative monk which will change human life.
Suddhodhana wanted to make his son, the future king, not a monk. That’s why he never allowed Siddhartha to go and see the outside world.
He had given Siddhartha all the things that he wanted, but he was never taught that one day he will get old and he will die. He was given the luxury of life. But, he always searched for one meaning in his life,One day he left the palace and went on to see the outside world. He has seen an old man, a sick man, and all the sufferings that human beings had, also the funeral.
From that observation, he found that our life is full of suffering and that death is the ultimate truth in one’s life. He went on to find enlightenment in his life. At age 29, he left his palace, studied austerity, and practiced mindfulness with the yogis.
He spent 2 and half months in the shade of a bodhi tree, Finally one day, enlightenment came. He became the Buddha.
Then he shared the learnings of his life with other humans, thus it became Buddhism. The way of living a life.
